Launched in 2007, Braden River Soccer Club TOPSoccer program (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community based recreational soccer program for children with disabilities. Since children with varying exceptionalities are often left without access to youth development programs that their typically developing peers often participate in, TOPSoccer addresses that gap with a supportive and adaptive environment for children to enjoy the beautiful game.

Through the support of Braden River Soccer Club and US Youth Soccer, children of all abilities in Sarasota and Manatee County participate in regular recreational seasons where they are partnered with a "buddy", receive coaching from experienced soccer coaches, and have fun while enjoying the social-emotional and health benefits innate in our region's organized soccer programs.

Annually, our nearly 100 volunteers work directly with our players during each session and scrimmage. These volunteers come from community partners such as LECOM, State College of Florida, FSU College of Medicine Sarasota, local high schools, and other community members.

Our volunteer program is part of what makes TOPSoccer inclusive and impactful, giving young adults in Sarasota and Manatee County the opportunity to work with the special needs population. Through TOPS, they hone their skills in working with diverse needs and populations, and carry those skills into their future careers and community outreach, fostering a more empathetic and inclusive community.
